2010 Weaver If you like the Twenty Ten Theme and would like to make considerable changes to the look and feel 2010 Weaver is a great child theme to be use. We have tested it and the changes can be very granular, very subtle as well as more elaborated.

The developer of the child theme, Bruce E. Wample, has put a lot of throught and time into it. The newest version still needs to hit the WordPress.org site, but the current version 1.1.7 is impressive as it is.  The purpose of the child theme is to give those that do not want to touch any files and do not know anything about HTML or CSS, a easy way to make the necessary changes to color, layout and font (font seems to be in the next version, though).

We have tested it on various occasion and it comes with a set of nine more different themes and a great interface to change the color set.  It also comes with a large set of additional content and widget areas that make your site more interactive and more complete.  Of course, with more choices complexity increases as well.

An additional feature is a content area between navigation and post or page header as a ‘Breaking News’ or ‘Welcome’ message for your visitors.

If you haven’t settled yet on your layout and like to see what changes can be incorporated, search for 2010 Weaver in the Themes Directory on WordPress.org, install it and activate it.
